The Nogales Police Department  is comprised of 84 fulltime employees, 64 of those certified commissioned police officers. The police command structure includes the police chief, an assistant police chief, a captain of operations and three lieutenants. The department is divided into three divisions, being the uniformed patrol division, the plainclothes investigative division and the civilian support division.

The patrol division handles every day community calls for service and all preliminary police investigations. This includes our DARE/GREAT officers, School Resource officers, K-9 officers, Special Response Team, Traffic Motor officers and rotating shift officers. This division is considered the main backbone of the police department.

The criminal investigations division functions as a multi-task orientated division. These police investigators are responsible for the investigation of violent crimes, child crimes, assaults, fraud, narcotics, internet crimes and homicides, to include applicant backgrounds, just to name a few. The investigations division is balanced and enhanced through advanced training, strategies and new technology.

The support division concentrates on community service and out-reach. This division specializes in communications, records and archives, evidence and property, and street parking enforcement and education. This division also strives for modernization and new technological innovations. Through specialized training, dedication and enhanced software, our communications division is able to provide service to both the police and fire departments.

The Nogales Police Department’s vision is to provide a quality, professional public safety service to the community and to promote a feeling and perception of empathy, honesty, competence and commitment.
