Nogales Police Explorers Receive Medals at Competition

Nogales Police Explorers attended the Bruce Larsen Explorer Games

 

 

Nogales, AZ – Police Chief William S. Ybarra, announced that Nogales Police Explorers, under the guidance of Sergeant Sergio Bon and Detective Alfonso Flores, brought back a total of 18 medals from the Police Explorer Games. The event was held on June 14th at the University of Arizona recreation center in Tucson, Arizona. There were approximately 10 Agencies that participated in this yearly competition. It is a great way for our explorers to show their skills and work as a team.

 

A total of 9 explorers from Nogales participated: Patsy Padilla, Brenda Navarro, Marisela Mendivil, Liliana Olivera, Josue Canez, Joshua Alcoverde, George Villa, Timothy Savory, and Andres Villegas.

 

They captured a bronze medal in Co-Ed Volleyball, Gold, Silver, and Bronze for both Divisions in Bowling. Silver in the 50-yard Girl’s sprint. Bronze in the 1 mile Girl’s run. Gold in the Boy’s 50-yard sprint.

 

Police Chief Ybarra stated, “ We are committed to the youth of our community and sponsoring the Nogales Police Explorer program is one way of giving back to the community”. The counselors volunteer their time and efforts to work with the kids and teach them the skills necessary, not only to succeed in these types of competitions, but also in life. Congratulations to the Nogales Police Department’s Explorer Program Post 511 and the police volunteers that assisted.
